The story of the Astrakhan cat Puli with a dramatic plot, an almost tragic climax and an unexpected denouement.
At the end of December last year, volunteers from the Astrakhan group βFaithful Friendβ spoke about a cat that was thrown into the street after the death of its owner, and asked for help in finding a home for the poor guy. It turned out that this story with a dramatic beginning had an equally rapid development, almost with a tragic climax and an unexpected denouement.
There’s a bullet under the heart
Calls for volunteers at that time were unsuccessful: in the end they found shelter for the cat in the garage, fed her, and then she suddenly fell ill.
The animal was taken to the vet, an X-ray showed that there was… a bullet under the cat’s heart. She was probably shot with a bullet and, as activists suggest, this could have happened in the courtyard of the house where her owner lived.
They offered to euthanize
The doctors had doubts about the positive outcome of the operation; they suggested simply euthanizing the cat so as not to torture it.
But as the animal rights activists themselves reported on their public pages, they gathered their will and decided to fight to save the cat to the end.
βHospitalizedβ in Krasnodar

The activists contacted their colleague from Krasnodar, to whose help the residents of Astrakhan had repeatedly resorted. In addition, the capital Kuban has the necessary medical equipment that is not available in Astrakhan. The girl agreed to help and the cat, nicknamed Bullet, was urgently sent to Krasnodar.
The fear was unfounded
In the veterinary clinic, the cat underwent a full examination and it turned out that the foreign body in the animal’s body did not threaten its life: the bullet was encapsulated. The local veterinarians recognized only mild bronchial otitis in the cat, and soon the beautiful Bullet began to recover and everyone showed her cheerful and playful character.
Looking for new owners…
Zoo defenders are now looking for Pule, who for some reason was nicknamed Masha, for new owners in Krasnodar. For the time being, the five-year-old cat has been placed in the Terracotta cat cafΓ©. The owners of the establishment will be happy to transfer Masha-Bullet into friendly and caring hands.
…and ask for help
By the way, Astrakhan volunteers of “True Friend” really count on financial help from caring people: Puli’s stay and treatment were expensive, and the clinics incurred debts. The necessary information can be obtained by contacting volunteers of “True Friend” on the social network VKontakte.
